The golden thread of information

In short: The golden thread is the building safety information for a higher-risk building, kept digitally so that accurate, up-to-date, accessible information is available throughout the building's life cycle. The duty has applied since 1 October 2023.

What it must be

The information must be accurate, kept up to date, stored digitally, securely held, and available to the people who need it - including the Building Safety Regulator on request.

Who is responsible?

The accountable persons for the building. In practice, freeholders, managing agents and registered providers hold the duty.

How CTS and BuildSafe help

CTS captures and structures your existing records and maintains them against Building Safety Act requirements. The CTS BuildSafe platform holds the golden thread with version control, role-based access and an audit trail.
